About the Role

RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the mission and philosophy of the Head Start program. Work in partnership with families without judgment or bias, recognizing and respecting individual differences and backgrounds.
DUTIES:
• Responsible for recruitment drive, in conjunction with Family Engagement Staff and the
Educational Staff.
• Responsible for scheduling appointments for home visits in the classroom assigned.
• Ensure that all home visits reports, Parent- Teacher Conferences and copies of all the letters sent home are filed in the child's record.
• Interview new parents and complete all required documentation with signatures.
• Recordkeeping (meetings with families and discussing their needs on a monthly basis pertaining to the child, medical, dental, hearing and vision screening must be all updates: Data Health Teacher).
• Conducts workshops with parents.
• Advocacy for parents.
• Classroom support.
• Attends meetings and workshops with DOE.
• Attendance and Meal Counts on a daily basis.
• Enrollment
• Assist Parent Involvement Coordinator coordinate bus trips.
• Contact parents of the children that they have been absent 3 days. before the child is dropped from the program.
• Ensure that all enrolled children are accounted for within one hour of children's arrival time.
• Responsible each day to go to the classroom assigned to ensure safety procedures during arrival and dismissal.
• Coverage of Parents Involvement Coordinator when absent.
• Attends and assists General Parent meetings as needed.
• Documents arrange and conduct parent counseling to determine the family needs for
referral to community based organizations.
• Other duties as requested by Assistant Director and Program Director

OUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have an Associate's Degree, Family development credential. preferably Bachelor's Degree or comparable experience in community work. Physically fit to assist in recruitment activities in the community. Applicants must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Applicants must have leadership abilities and an acute interest in families particularly as it relates to educating families in social services issues. Applicants should have good communication skills.
